Chilkur Balaji temple have a pleasant architecture, boasting of being one of the oldest temples of Telangana. It is said to be this temple was built more than 500 years ago. The temple is considered an alternative to Tirumala Temple. The god Balaji Venkateswara, accompanied by Sridevi and Bhoodevi, is the main deity of the temple.

There was a legend behind the construction of this great temple. According to the stories, the temple was built by a devotee who, having had health problems, could not go to Tirupati Temple, which he used to do before.

Moved by his devotion, Lord Venkateshwara appeared to him and ordered him to find the idol of the Lord, with Sridevi and Bhoodevi, and to build a temple. Since then, the faithful have been known to seek the blessings of Lord Shri Balaji Venkateshwara. Many people, who can not go to the Tirupati Temple, often come here.

Chikur Balaji Temple Specials

Chilkur Balaji Temple is also known as “Visa Balaji Temple“. Apparently, the temple is known to meet the wishes of devotees to obtain a visa to go abroad. Chilkur balaji is also known to be one of the few temples in India without a Hundi or Donation box, preaching only the devotee in its nature.

Usually, devotees follow a common pattern. They follows 11 “pradakshinas” and their prayers to the deity. Once the wish is fulfill, they take 108 pradakshinas from the temple to express their gratitude and thank God.

The tours take place in the midst of chants of mantras and religious but lively speeches by highly educated priests who speak and motivate the faithful in English and Telugu. This temple is known for its positive and peaceful atmosphere, away from commercial contacts.
